New high tech speed cameras
A new high-tech speed camera in the UK could be introduced very soon. It reminds drivers not to brake suddenly. This advanced device can catch offenders, even if they slow down abruptly. It’s a big leap in road safety technology.

What do these new cameras do?
The system designed by Road Angel employs a combination of cameras and sensors to evaluate if a driver engages in abrupt braking near a speed camera. This is a significant change as a large percentage of drivers speed and then slow down to the speed limit when they spot a camera. It also includes a sensor positioned nearly 1 kilometer beyond the initial camera to detect any attempts to accelerate again above the speed limit. If detected, individuals may be subject to a £100 fine or receive penalty points on their driving license.
Gary Digva, the creator of Road Angel, underscored the safety advantages of this innovative technology, stating, “Should these devices be implemented, they will apprehend and penalize a greater number of speeding drivers, motivating more individuals to adhere to lawful speed limits and enhance overall road safety.”
When could we see these being implemented?
It comes after the news that one in four fatal collisions occur due to speeding on UK roads. This means that over 2,500 people are seriously injured every year due to excessive speeds. It also comes as a sudden interest as Spain has been testing these cameras for a while and their Government has reported extremely positive results and a significant reduction in speeding and road accidents
Seeing that road safety seems to be a high priority at the moment in England, it is rumored that these new devices will be slowly introduced as early as October. They will probably start off in busy areas with a high amount of road offenses and could slowly become the norm for road safety if proven useful.
