Car tax increased from 1st April 2024
Changes in car taxes will result in some drivers paying an additional £140 this year, while millions of Britons will experience an increase in their vehicle’s road-keeping expenses.

Increased cost for older cars
| For cars registered before March 1, 2001, there are notable differences in tax regulations. Instead of being determined by CO2 emissions, taxation is solely determined by engine size. Cars with engines smaller than 1.5 litres (equivalent to ‘not over 1549cc’) are subject to an annual tax of £200, while larger engines face a tax of £325. |
