Operation Gallop aims to enhance safety for horse riders.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) is collaborating with the British Horse Society to promote awareness among road users, whether horse riders or motorists, about safely sharing the roads.
Through Operation Gallop, the PSNI aims to build stronger relationships and trust between the police and the equestrian community.
PSNI emphasises that it is “crucial” for drivers to know how to behave when encountering horses on the road.
The BHS advises:
Pull away gently and at a slow pace
Reduce speed to a maximum of 15mph
Remain patient
Overtake slowly and with care (only if it’s safe), leaving at least two metres where possible
