Drivers are unnecessarily endangering themselves by failing to wear a seatbelt.

Geoff Collins, UK manager at Acusensus, says he is “baffled” by how many drivers are being caught without seatbelts by the company’s AI-powered camera system.

The ‘Heads Up’ technology uses advanced cameras capable of looking through windscreens to spot drivers not wearing seatbelts or using mobile phones.

According to figures from Safer Roads Greater Manchester, nearly 2,400 drivers were recorded without seatbelts at a single location over just 51 days.
