The average pair of sunglasses is ‘category two,’ making them appropriate for driving. However, darker sunglasses labeled ‘category four,’ small fashion glasses, yellow-tinted glasses, or those with large side arms can be considered too dangerous for driving.
“Drivers wearing inappropriate sunglasses could face a dangerous driving charge, which may result in hefty fines, penalty points, or even prison time. If you are blinded by sunlight and it becomes too bright and hazardous to drive, be sure to slow down or pull over until it is safe to continue. It’s not worth taking the risk.”
