 In NEWS

Drivers are being encouraged to slow down on weekends following data from the DfT, which shows that motorists are more likely to exceed speed limits on Saturdays and Sundays.

Analysis by LeaseLoco.com reveals that 86% of drivers exceed the 20mph speed limit on Saturdays and Sundays, sparking serious concerns over road safety in residential and pedestrian-heavy areas during weekends.

Nearly half of all drivers also speed on motorways at the weekend, with 48% exceeding the 70mph limit on Saturdays and 49% on Sundays—an increase from 43% on weekdays.

A similar trend is seen on 30mph roads, where 50% of drivers speed on Sundays, compared to a slightly lower 42% on weekdays.
