Driving test swaps
Driving Test Swaps Are Changing from 1 October

The DVSA are making it easier for learner drivers to swap their driving test appointments.
From 1 October, changes to the DVSA’s test-swapping process will remove the need for both learners to be available at the same time, making the process simpler and less stressful.
What’s Changing?
If you want to swap your driving test with another learner, the process will work as follows:
- The first learner contacts the DVSA by phone to request the swap.
- The second learner must then call the DVSA on the same working day to confirm they agree to the swap.
Both learners must contact the DVSA on the same working day for the swap to be processed.
How Was It Done Before?
Previously, both learners had to be available at the same time to complete the swap.
Under the new process, you can make your calls separately, giving you greater flexibility and making it easier to arrange a suitable test date.
Please remember: Both learners must call the DVSA on the same working day to confirm the swap.
