Have a safe T.R.I.P
National Highways launches summer T.R.I.P. campaign to tackle driver fatigue

National Highways is urging motorists to make rest and preparation a priority before setting off on long journeys this summer, as new figures highlight the continued dangers of driver fatigue.
The latest wave of the T.R.I.P. campaign launched on 10 July, reminding drivers to Top-up, Rest, Inspect and Prepare before heading out on longer journeys.
With millions of families travelling to airports, holiday destinations and days out over the summer, many motorists will be making journeys that are outside their usual routines. National Highways warns that unfamiliar routes and overnight travel can increase the risk of fatigue-related collisions.
Remember T.R.I.P.
T – Top-up: Check fuel or battery charge, oil and screen wash before setting off.
R – Rest: Plan to take a break at least every two hours. Don’t wait until you feel tired.
I – Inspect: Check your tyres, including pressure and tread depth.
P – Prepare: Check the weather and make sure you have everything you need for the journey.
A few minutes of preparation before setting off could make a significant difference. Plan ahead, take regular breaks and never underestimate the dangers of driving when tired.
Stay safe this summer and make sure your journey is part of the holiday – not a risk to it.
