Digital driving licenses
Digital driving licenses will arrive before 2024

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) is working towards launching an app that will replace paper test certificates, bringing MOTs (Ministry of Transport) into the modern era by introducing digital certificates and booking systems. This initiative aims to enhance convenience, efficiency, and accessibility by digitizing processes related to test certificates and MOTs.
The reason for this
The DVLA aims to develop services that prioritize digital solutions while ensuring that paper and plastic documents will still have a place. Their goal is to create exceptional digital services that are so appealing that individuals willingly opt for them, leading to faster, easier transactions and a reduced environmental impact.
Also, Digitized licenses can provide valuable assistance to the DVLA in managing the backlog of applications for driving licenses they are currently dealing with.
When will this be introduced?
Although no specific date has been announced yet, it has been confirmed that digital driver licenses will begin testing or even be available to the public before 2024.
