Essential tips for driving in the summer

Summer is now here, however, before you get in your car and head out, it’s important that you stay safe throughout your journey. Here are some of the things you can do to prepare yourself for the summer.
Vehicle maintenance
Check your tires – Make sure there is enough tread and are properly inflated
Inspect your brakes – Make sure your brakes are working as intended and have sufficient brake pad/disc thickness
Top up fluids – Car engines can get extremely hot during summer so its important you check your oil, coolant, and brake fluid level

Beat the heat
Stay hydrated: Carry an ample supply of water and stay hydrated throughout your journey.
Use the air conditioning: Driving with the A/C on will help keep the internal temperature of the car cool.
Sun glare – Dazzle from the sun can significantly reduce your vision, you can prevent this to an extent by keeping your windscreen clean. It also helps if you take sunglasses when you drive
Breakdown cover – Cars have a much higher chance of breaking down in severe temperatures so if you can, having a breakdown cover will help in case of an emergency.
